Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid vs Forester Hybrid - Which One is Right for You?
Choosing between hybrid SUVs can be a challenging decision, especially when both options you're considering come from a top brand like Subaru. The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and Forester Hybrid are both excellent choices. The team at McCurley Subaru of Yakima wants to help you decide on the Subaru model that's right for you. Let's take a look at what both have to offer.
Performance
Both the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and Forester Hybrid come equipped with efficient and sophisticated hybrid powertrains that combine traditional gasoline engines with advanced motors to improve your gas mileage and your vehicle's output.
On the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, that adds up to 194 horsepower with a fuel economy of 36 miles per gallon combined. On the Subaru Forester Hybrid? You'll also enjoy up to 194 horsepower with 35 miles per gallon on city streets and 34 miles per gallon on the highway.
Both SUVs also come equipped with a standard symmetrical all-wheel drive system. This full-time AWD system provides enhanced traction and stability for those moments when the road or the weather gets rough.
Seating & Space
Perhaps the biggest difference between the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and Subaru Forester Hybrid are their size. The Crosstrek Hybrid, as a subcompact, is significantly smaller than the Subaru Forester, which rests firmly in the compact segment.
What does that mean on the road? While both SUVs can seat up to five, the Forester Hybrid offers a more spacious cabin with additional headroom and legroom for front and rear passengers. The Forester Hybrid also provides more cargo space: up to 27.5 cubic feet behind the rear seating. While the Crosstrek Hybrid is no slouch, it only offers 18.6 cubic feet in the same area.
At the same time, the Crosstrek Hybrid's smaller size also helps it to feel more nimble and smooth on the road. The Forester Hybrid might offer more interior space, but you'll feel the difference behind the wheel.
Features & Technology
Both of these Subaru hybrid models deliver impressive connectivity and convenience features. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard features on both SUVs. The Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid does offer a bigger standard 12.3-inch touchscreen, but the Forester Hybrid makes up for it with a more robust sound system, including access to an optional 11-speaker Harman/Kardon surround sound stereo.
Both SUVs likewise offer everything from available built-in navigation to advanced climate control options and more. Regardless of which one you choose, you'll have everything you need to stay connected and comfortable on your way from A to B.
Safety
Subaru has earned a stellar reputation for safety. A reputation that's on full display in the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid and Subaru Forester Hybrid. The Crosstrek Hybrid hits the road with the Subaru EyeSight assistance suite, complete standard automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warnings, lane-keeping assistance, and adaptive cruise control.
The Forester Hybrid doesn't come with quite as many standard features, but it's a safe ride nonetheless. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control are all standard. Additional options are available as optional upgrades.
