Performance

The new Subaru Legacy comes standard with a four-cylinder engine that produces 182 horsepower and is equipped with a continuously variable transmission. The engine moves the new Subaru Legacy from 0 to 60 mph in eight seconds, while the optional turbocharged four-cylinder with 260 horsepower manages to hit 60 mph in six seconds. Despite the standard four-wheel drive, each engine has superb gas mileage ratings. With the base engine, the Subaru Legacy records 35 mpg on the highway and 27 mpg in the city, while the optional turbo-four records 32 mpg and 24 mpg on the highway and city.

Thanks to its standard all-wheel-drive and quick-responsive steering wheel, it guarantees poised handling. Also, its suspension does a good job soaking up ditches and bumps on the road, resulting in a comfortable ride.

Interior

The cabin of the Subaru Legacy is well-designed to keep out wind and road noise, thus contributing to a quiet ride. You will get two rows that result in a seating capacity of five. Each seat feels comfortable because they are well-bolstered, and taller passengers have enough room in each row. Features like front and rear cupholders, cloth upholstery, valet function, cargo space lights, seatback storage pockets, illuminated locking glove box, front map lights, and manual adjustments are standard.

The new Subaru Legacy features some LATCH connectors and a tether anchor for the child car seat, done in the second row. The cargo trunk measures 15 cubic feet, suitable for hauling a few carry-on bags.

Exterior

The lower trim gets 17-inch machine-finished black alloy wheels and a single exhaust outlet, while most upper trims benefit from 18-inch alloy wheels, sliding panoramic sunroof, LED fog lights, and dual exhaust. However, each trim boasts steering-responsive LED headlights, tinted window glass, and LED taillights. For a unique exterior styling, we suggest the sports trim for Ellensburg drivers.

Technology

Whether you opt for the standard 7-inch or the optional 11-inch touchscreen, a positive driving experience will still come your way as you commute from Sunnyside to Prosser. Each touchscreen features Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth connection, HD radio, and satellite radio. To get a Wi-Fi hotspot and a navigation system, we recommend the optional 11-inch touchscreen, which also offers a 12-speaker stereo system, unlike the standard touchscreen with a four-speaker stereo system. Additional tech elements include push-button start, wireless device charging, and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Safety

The new Subaru Legacy offers several safety features:

  • A head-up display
  • Adaptive headlights
  • Forward collision warning
  • A rearview camera
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane departure alert
